This week see’s the UK ban on the sale of menthol cigarettes come into force. The ban is one of the steps towards taken towards the longer-term goal to make the UK smoke free by 2030.
With the appeal of menthol cigarettes being higher amongst younger and newer smokers being one of the reasons why the ban is coming into effect. Menthol cigarettes are popular, especially with newer smokers due to the lessened ‘throat hit’ and thought to be a healthier option. However, the health authorities, including the NHS do not support these claims.
What products does the ban include?
The ban applies to all menthol cigarettes, including those that contain mint flavour capsules, skinny cigarettes and menthol filters and papers.
The ban does not apply to vaping devices and e-liquids nor does it include nicotine pouches.
Can I still buy menthol E-Liquids?
Yes. The great news is that the ban doesn’t apply to E-Liquids or vaping devices. The ban itself applies to tobacco smoking products and you will still be able to enjoy your favourite E-Liquids.
