It’s been a surreal few weeks hasn’t it? For the RED Box Vape team, those of us who can, have been working from home for over three weeks now.
Where for many of us, we are in the office most of the week, catching up with colleagues about the latest Netflix offering to popping out for lunch with the gang for someone’s birthday! This, social aspect is now eliminated and we’re all adapting to the new normal…for now.As a team, we wanted to share what we’re doing to make lockdown life that little bit more manageable and enjoyable!
Lauren is our Operations and Project Manager, here’s her tip:
‘Times are really challenging and stressful for many right now. To help me stay calm and cantered and separate work from homelife, I practice yoga. All you need is a yoga mat or a towel on the floor and you’re ready to go!
Many yoga teachers are offering free online sessions and YouTube have loads of videos! Pick one that suits you and take 30 minutes in the morning or after work to help re-balance and restore the calm. It’s not only great for mindfulness but is a great workout too!’
Janet, our Production Manager loves gardening and says:
‘Now is the perfect time for you to get in the garden and start planting and potting a vegetable patch. Whether you have a small or big garden, or not at all – you can plant anything from herbs to salad leaves to root vegetables!
It’s a good form of exercise to get out into the garden and within a few weeks you’ll have a bumper crop to be proud of!
You can get seeds and compost online and once you’ve tasted fresh, homemade produce -there’s no going back!’
Alex, Area Retail Manager is still working hard to ensure your online orders get to you safely, but uses his extra time at home to cook from scratch more:
‘I’ve been cooking lots more – now that we don’t all have the luxury of convenience; I’m cooking meals from scratch and really enjoying it too!
One of my favourite things to cook is a lasagne, with lots of extra cheese and a little cheeky chorizo to add a bit of extra spice to liven it up! It’s a great one for using any extra veggies in your fridge too!’
Rhiannon, Junior Management Information System Analyst, says routine is key:
'I’m making sure I stick to my usual routine, sleeping and waking when I usually do – I know I’d probably have a tendency to oversleep otherwise, so I make sure I’m in bed by 11pm and up and ready by 8am!’
Jonathan, Marketing Director, says it’s important for the team to keep in touch:
‘We’re a really sociable bunch of people, so to go from seeing everyone every day to not at all takes some adjustment!
Luckily, there are some really good online resources, like Zoom which we use for conference calls, that we use for a weekly pub quiz. It brings everyone together for a couple of hours as well as their competitive streak!!
We also have a group chat for everyday chat and is a good way of everyone keeping in touch.’
