If you’re new to vaping or considering transitioning to vaping as a way to stop smoking, then you may be unsure of where to start.
The little tips and tricks that make vaping enjoyable come with experience and a bit of trial and error. While vaping is a very personal experience, and you’re likely to need to work out some things yourself, we can still offer you some advice to make your journey into vaping a little easier.
Here we offer some tips and tricks that will help your transition from smoking to vaping be more successful!
Use the Right Nicotine Strength for You
One of the most important things to get right with your vape is the nicotine strength of your e-cigarette liquid. If it’s too low, you will feel cigarette cravings, if it’s too high, you may feel dizzy or nauseous.
The strength you need will depend on the amount of cigarettes you would normally smoke. Our chart can give you an idea of the strength you should choose:
Understand the PG/VG
E-Liquid contains propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). Higher PG makes a stronger throat hit and smaller vape cloud, higher VG makes a smoother throat hit and bigger vape cloud. VG is naturally sweeter and can be found in 100% VG bottles that can be used to make huge vape clouds.
If you want a stronger throat hit, similar to what you would get from a cigarette, then you’ll want a higher PG E-Liquid. If you want to produce big vape clouds, or enjoy a sweeter flavour, then you’ll want one with a higher VG.
Know How to Keep Your E-Liquid
When storing bottles of E-Liquid, make sure you keep them out of direct sunlight, as exposure to sunlight can reduce nicotine levels.
Make sure to put the lids back on your E-Liquid bottles too. You can leave your E-Liquid to breathe for around 30 minutes if the flavour is too strong, but any longer than that and you’re putting the flavour at risk.
Before you use E-Liquid, you should shake up the bottle. This makes sure the PG, VG and nicotine are properly mixed together so that your vape experience remains high quality.
Don’t Focus on Sub-Ohm Vaping
Sure, huge plumes of vapour look cool, but for a beginner, sub-ohm vaping is not recommended. Sub-ohming uses low resistance coils to make excessive vape clouds.
Some beginner’s think that they also need to cloud chase to be successful at vaping, but this is far from the truth. As a beginner, the dense vapour can be overpowering and cause excessive coughing and an uncomfortable experience.
Plus, sub-ohm devices are usually direct-to-lung vapes, which can be too much for new vapers, as the experience is different to how you inhale with cigarettes. When you’re first switching to a vape from cigarettes, it is good to keep the experience as similar as possible.
